A Heartwarming Story of Courage
A brother and sister, Vasya and Katya, lived happily with their beloved cat. One spring day, the cat suddenly disappeared. The children searched everywhere—in the yard, behind the house, and near the barn—but she was nowhere to be found. Their hearts were filled with worry and sadness.
One day, while playing near the barn, they heard soft meowing sounds above them. Vasya quickly climbed up the ladder to the roof, while Katya waited below anxiously. Suddenly, Vasya shouted with joy—he had found their cat, and she had given birth to tiny kittens!
Katya ran home and brought milk for the cat. There were five adorable kittens. As they grew, the children chose one special kitten—a gray one with white paws—and brought it into their home. They loved it dearly, feeding it, playing with it, and keeping it close.
One sunny day, the children took their little kitten with them to play near the road. The kitten happily chased the rustling straw blown by the wind, and the children laughed with delight as they watched it play.
While collecting sorrel by the roadside, the children forgot about the kitten. Suddenly, loud shouting broke the silence. A hunter was galloping nearby, and his two dogs had spotted the helpless kitten and rushed toward it.
Katya screamed in fear and ran away, unable to face the danger. But Vasya, filled with courage, ran straight toward the kitten. Just as the dogs were about to attack, Vasya threw himself over the kitten, protecting it with his own body.
The hunter quickly arrived and called off the dogs. The danger passed, and Vasya carefully picked up the frightened kitten. His brave act had saved his little friend’s life.
After that day, Vasya brought the kitten safely home and never took it into dangerous places again. The children realized how precious and fragile life is, and they cared for their kitten more responsibly than ever before.
