The Clever Pencil and the Hungry Mouse

The Clever Pencil and the Hungry Mouse

Every evening, little Vova left his school supplies neatly on his wooden desk before going to bed. Among them was a small yellow pencil that had helped him draw houses, trees, and funny little faces all day long.

The room was quiet, the moonlight shone softly through the window, and everyone was asleep.

But deep inside the walls, someone tiny was awake.

The Pencil on Vova’s Desk

A sneaky gray mouse climbed quietly onto the desk. His tiny whiskers twitched as he sniffed around for something to chew.

Suddenly, his eyes landed on the pencil.

“Perfect!” squeaked the Mouse happily.

He grabbed the poor Pencil and dragged him toward his dark little hole in the wall.

“Please let me go!” begged the Pencil. “I’m only made of wood. You can’t even eat me!”

But the Mouse grinned wickedly.

“My teeth itch all the time,” he said. “I must chew something!”

And he took a painful bite.

“If you’re really going to chew me,” he said sadly, “please let me draw one last picture first.”

The Mouse scratched his nose and thought for a moment.

“Fine,” he agreed. “But after that, I’ll chew you into tiny pieces!”

The Pencil sighed deeply and began to draw a big round circle on the paper.

The Pencil’s Last Request

“What’s that?” asked the Mouse excitedly.

“Maybe cheese,” said the Pencil.

Then he drew little holes inside the circle.

“Oh yes! Cheese!” cried the Mouse, licking his lips.

Next, the Pencil drew another round shape.

“An apple!” shouted the Mouse happily.

Then came long curved shapes.

“Sausages!” squealed the Mouse. “Hurry up! My teeth are itching terribly!”

The Mouse became more excited with every drawing.

“Wait just one moment,” said the Pencil calmly.

Slowly, he began drawing sharp little ears.

Then long whiskers.

Then two huge eyes.

The Mouse suddenly froze.

“Oh no…” he whispered nervously. “It looks like a ca… ca…”

But it was too late.

The Pencil finished drawing a giant cat with huge whiskers and scary eyes!

“CAT!” screamed the Mouse.

Terrified, he jumped high into the air and raced back into his hole faster than lightning.

The Terrifying Cat

From that day on, the Mouse never dared come out again.

Of course, he had become much shorter after the Mouse’s bite, but he was proud of his clever trick.
Maybe your pencil can draw a cat scary enough to frighten mice too.

And the Pencil still lived safely on Vova’s desk.

And who knows?
